To be more competitive in the pool of candidates, students must take important preparatory courses before the transfer. Students who wish to study science, economics, engineering, architecture or dental hygiene must take more advanced preparatory courses prior to the transfer. Music students can also enrol in transferable ensemble courses, but the number of units a student can transfer to USC for set credits is limited to 4 units. These sets can meet the actual requirements of the set for bachelor`s degrees, but it depends on the major. Participation in the whole and individual (or applied teaching) are encouraged for all performance majors. While these courses cannot be transferred directly to USC for credits in their programs, it is important that students continue to invest in their musical development in this way. Below is a two-semester calendar for performance students attending California community colleges. It is important to consult appropriate articulation agreements to determine the portability of certain courses. Enrollment in these courses should not be interpreted as a means of guaranteeing admission. If scheduled, music students may take music classes, in addition to USC`s general requirements, which are specifically related to their main subject, as described briefly in the section below.
How do I know which transfer classes should be taken in the fall? You can find articulation agreements with many California community colleges that indicate exactly what credit courses are received on the credit transfer site. Please read the entire agreement carefully. USC will respect the transfer balance on these agreements. The articulation agreements currently show credit for the NEW GE program. Students who arrive under the NEW GE program can use these resources to verify the credit-choice, GE, writing, foreign languages and equivalency of USC courses. The University of Southern California is one of the world`s leading private research universities. Located in the heart of Los Angeles, USC offers first-class programs in virtually every field with more than 150 bachelor majors to choose from. Interest credits and one-time credits If a course is transferable by another institution, there are two types of credits that can be purchased for that course: subject credit and/or single credit. The assessment means that a credit is granted for a given course offered at USC. The unit credit means that the total number of units required to close the financial statements to USC is credited.
Music courses at another institution may be transferred to USC for a single credit (whether indicated in a articulation agreement or as determined by a transfer credit assessment), but in virtually all cases, these courses are not deferred to the charge. For example, Thornton Does not provide technical credit for private education or music theory courses, while USC can (and often does) provide a single credit for these courses. New transfer students from Thornton School, who have taken music courses at a former university, must go to the corresponding disciplines (example.B. orchestration, musical theory). How students cut out for these exams determines the placement in the required courses. Given these three considerations, it is generally recommended that future transfer students try to apply for admission to USC Thornton School as soon as possible. Ideally, a transfer student will have completed approximately 30 to 32 transferable internship units in a California community college in one year (mostly in general culture, writing and diversity courses according to the articulation agreement) and then transferred to USC in what would be about the student`s sophomore year.
